Installing Gamecards

The following steps will help you convert your physical gamecards into digital titles that can be used anytime, even without the gamecard being inserted into your console.

Walkthrough

Section I - Requirements

  • Gamecard Installer NX (alt) (Gamecard_installer.nro)
  • Copy the downloaded gamecard_installer.nro to /switch on your SD card.

Section II - Instructions

  1. Launch emuMMC via Hekate. If you followed our guide for CFW setup, this is the Atmosphere PKG3 emuMMC button.

Please ensure you are booted into your emuMMC before proceeding.

The following steps will cause you to get banned if you are not booted into your emuMMC. Verify this by entering System Settings > System and checking what it says underneath the System Update button.

    • It will say X.X.X|AMS X.X.X|E if you are booted into your emuMMC, indicated by the E at the end of the version string.
    • It will say X.X.X|AMS X.X.X|S if you are booted into sysCFW, indicated by the S at the end of the version string. If this is the case, please make sure you boot into your emuMMC now.

Note: If you get failed to apply 'nosigchk' and/or failed to apply 'noldrchk' when launching your emuMMC, please replace your hekate_ipl.ini with this one by overwriting the hekate_ipl.ini file currently in the bootloader folder on your SD card.

  2. Insert the gamecard you would like to install into your console.

  3. Launch HBMenu and open Gamecard Installer NX.
  4. Select SD Card Install or NAND Install, whichever location you wish to install the gamecard to- or have more storage space on.
  5. Press A to confirm.
  6. Wait until the app finishes installing the game, then exit to the home menu.
  7. Remove the gamecard and you'll find that your cart is now installed to the system.
    • Note: There is a very high chance of the game prompting you to install a game update after installation, for which you will need to dump and install update and/or DLC data using the guide linked below.

Installing update data and/or DLC

Gamecards typically contain only the base game. If your game needs updates and/or DLC, you will need to dump and install those using the following guide:
